DITF to boost global outlook of local traders -TanTrade

DODOMA: THE Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) has said that the upcoming 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) is expected to significantly broaden the global outlook and business knowledge of local traders.
TanTrade’s Senior Trade Officer, Mr Mohamed Nyasama, said the participation of around 30 countries in this year’s event will not only bring foreign exchange into the country but also provide valuable exposure and learning opportunities for Tanzanian entrepreneurs.
“We are expecting foreign currency inflows from the participating countries. But beyond that, they will bring crucial knowledge and insights that will inspire local traders and ignite their ambition to participate in international trade,” said Mr Nyasama.
He pointed out that for many small and medium-scale entrepreneurs (SMEs), the trade fair will be their first chance to engage directly with international markets and gain practical business insights that could transform their operations.
“If a local trader gets the opportunity to attend, it may be a turning point in their business journey. They will gain new perspectives and a deeper understanding of global trade dynamics. This could mark the beginning of nurturing future top-tier business leaders from Tanzania,” he added.
Mr Nyasama emphasised that TanTrade intends to use the platform to cultivate the next generation of world-class entrepreneurs by facilitating knowledge exchange, networking, and exposure to international best practices.
He said the fair is not just a commercial event but a springboard for local businesses to expand and position themselves competitively in the global market.

Meanwhile, TanTrade Director General, Ms Latifa Khamis, said key preparations for the fair are progressing well, including the construction of essential infrastructure, allocation of exhibition booths, and overall site improvements such as painting and enhanced accessibility.
“We have made significant strides in ensuring the venue is ready to accommodate both local and international exhibitors. Infrastructure development is on track, and registration is ongoing,” said Ms Khamis.
She urged prospective participants to register early to avoid last-minute inconveniences, noting that the earlier the registration, the smoother the process.
Ms Khamis further highlighted that the booth allocation system has been upgraded to streamline service delivery.
“The entire registration and allocation process is now conducted online. Exhibitors can apply from wherever they are without having to come physically to the venue. This is part of our effort to improve efficiency and make the fair more accessible,” she explained.
The 49th DITF is expected to attract thousands of visitors and exhibitors and serve as a vital platform for promoting trade, investment, and innovation.
