Azam FC targets comeback against Wydad AC
DAR ES SALAAM: AZAM FC have shifted into top gear as they intensify preparations ahead of their pivotal CAF Confederation Cup group stage showdown with Moroccan heavyweights Wydad AC at Azam Complex, in Dar es Salaam tomorrow.
The Chamazi-based side is leaving nothing to chance, focusing on fitness, precision and tactical cohesion as they seek to make a strong continental statement.
One of the main talking points in camp is the impending return of goalkeeper Aishi Manula, who is edging closer to full match readiness after his recent injury layoff.
The seasoned shots topper, who signed for Azam FC this season, has made it clear that although he is eager to reclaim the no. 1 spot, he understands that only hard work will earn him that opportunity.
Speaking during one of the team’s high-intensity sessions, Manula, former Simba SC stopper, stressed that reputation counts for little without effort.

“Experience alone does not guarantee you a starting spot,” he said.
“I know what is required of me, and the only thing that will get me back on the pitch is commitment in training and fighting for the team. I’m pushing myself every day because I want to help Azam FC achieve something special this season.”
Considered one of Tanzania’s most accomplished goalkeepers, Manula highlighted the importance of his vast CAF experience as Azam brace for a demanding stage of the competition.
