Innovative consumer campaign awards Dar schools, pupils

DAR ES SALAAM: Pupils from various primary schools in the Dar es Salaam region have won a range of prizes, thanks to the ‘Kusanya na Ushinde na Bakers’ consumer campaign, which has positively impacted the lives of over 500,000 pupils.
The prizes awarded to pupils included desktop computers, laptops, and mountain bicycles.
The ‘Kusanya na Ushinde na Bakers’ campaign, run by AVI International, aims to keep the Bakers brand top of mind for consumers while leveraging its brand equity in the market.
To stand a chance of winning the prizes, parents were encouraged to buy Bakers biscuits for their children to take to school, which also gave teachers and schools an opportunity to win awards.
The schools and pupils with the highest number of collected packs were announced as winners.
“We are impressed by the overwhelming number of schools and pupils who participated in the Kusanya na Ushinde na Bakers campaign,” said Frikkie Van Niekerk, a representative of Bakers Ltd. “I wish to thank everyone who took part and congratulate all of today’s winners.”

He noted that the top primary schools that emerged as winners were Mbezi Beach Primary School, which received three desktop computers and a laptop; Misewe Primary School, awarded two desktops and a laptop; and Kigamboni Primary School, which won a desktop and a laptop.
The top five pupils who won mountain bicycles were Hassan Musin (Mbezi Beach Primary School), Marcus Jacob Urassa (Mgulani Primary School), James Joseph, Gloria Dickson (Jaica Primary School), and Bakary Salum (Amani Primary School).

“I would like to encourage the schools that won desktops and laptops to use them wisely in promoting digital learning. We all understand the importance of digital learning, as it helps pupils develop digital literacy from an early age. Additionally, it will assist teachers in creating teaching materials and introducing new teaching methods,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the winning schools, Mbezi Beach Primary School Head Teacher Prisca Haule commended Bakers Ltd for launching the innovative campaign, stating that the ICT items would improve the learning environment at her school.
The Kusanya na Ushinde na Bakers consumer promotion reached 40 primary schools in Dar es Salaam.
