Vodacom recognised for HR excellence

DAR ES SALAAM: VODACOM Tanzania was named Tanzania’s Top Employer by the Top Employers Institute for excellence in human resource and workforce management, following a 2025 independent assessment.
Vodacom Tanzania Human Resources Director, Ms Vivienne Penessis said the recognition is based on an evaluation of the company’s policies and practices across 20 areas, including people strategy, talent acquisition, leadership development, employee wellbeing, and diversity and inclusion.
“Vodacom’s approach demonstrates sustained investment in skills development, workforce planning and employee retention,” said Ms Penessis, noting the company earned Top Employer certification for the ninth consecutive year and ranked first nationally for the second time.

Ms Penessis said the evaluation highlights the role of structured people management systems in supporting business continuity and organisational performance. She said last year the company expanded its Employee Value Proposition with additional learning, wellbeing and engagement initiatives.
“Vodacom also runs external talent development programmes, including the graduate trainee programme, Code Like a Girl and the digital skills hub, aimed at strengthening digital skills among young people,” Ms Penessis noted.
The company Managing Director, Mr Philip Besiimire said effective workforce development is increasingly critical as the sector adapts to digital transformation and emerging technologies.
Mr Besiimire reaffirmed to continue to prioritise workforce readiness, reskilling and organisational adaptability as part of its long-term business strategy.
