ZANZIBAR President, Hussein Ali Mwinyi has left the country to attend the launching of the Special Olympics World Games in Germany.
The competitions scheduled from the 17th to 25th of June this year will involve thousands of athletes with special needs who will compete in various sport games.
The Special Olympics World Games offer the opportunity to unite the world like no other event can, where people with and without disabilities, people from different nations, cultures, political views and religions meet and overcome existing prejudices with the power of sport.
With more than six million athletes and Unified Sports partners and one million coaches and volunteers in over 200 accredited Programs, the Special Olympics delivers more than 30 Olympic-type sports and over 100,000 games and competitions every year.
However, while in Berlin, Dr Mwinyi will also meet with top government officials in Germany, Heads of various Organizations, Investors and the community of Tanzanians living in Germany (Diaspora).
