DAR ES SALAAM: YAS Tanzania has said that making quality mobile technology available is vital to reaching more people, enabling them to connect, learn and grow, especially in underserved communities where digital access drives education, opportunity and inclusion.

Quality mobile technology is crucial because it empowers people with dependable access to information and services, fostering innovation and economic growth while reducing inequalities in communities that need it most.

The remarks were made in Dar es Salaam recently by Head of Market Development, Sales & Channels at Yas, Mr Daniel Nnko, during an event announcing Yas’s partnership with Watu Tanzania to make smartphones more accessible and affordable through flexible financing for everyday Tanzanians.

“At YAS, we believe digital access is a right, not a luxury. This partnership ensures every Tanzanian can thrive in a connected world,” he said.

With significant investments in nationwide 4G and 5G coverage, Yas is breaking down barriers and creating a more inclusive digital Tanzania.

He added, “In underserved communities especially, quality matters it supports education, boosts economic potential and bridges the digital divide with lasting impact,” This enhanced connectivity enables more people especially those in rural and underserved areas to access essential digital services such as education, healthcare, and e-commerce, which are critical for personal and community development.

Moreover, expanding advanced mobile networks fosters economic growth by supporting businesses, encouraging innovation and creating new job opportunities.

By bridging the digital divide, Yas is helping build a more inclusive society where everyone can participate fully in the digital economy and benefit from the opportunities of a connected world.

The Head of Mobile Devices at Watu Tanzania, Moses Mtweve said their flexible financing model, combined with YAS’s extensive retail network, aims to bring digital access to underserved communities nationwide.
