YOUNG Africans and JKT are keen to leapfrog Simba at the helm of the Premier League table when the two sides meet at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam today.
Both sides are looking to stamp their second successive win of the league after victories in their opening fixtures, hence, the win is vital to both teams.
The defending champions launched their campaign on gas pedal after thrashing KMC 5-0 at the same venue to claim their first maximum points of the season.
For JKT Tanzania, they stunned Namungo 1-0 to step into the top-flight league with heads up and are now eager to carry on with the outstanding performance they began with.
This is the second away match for JKT Tanzania and they are yet to host a league encounter at their Black Rhino home stadium in Arusha.
At a pre-match briefing yesterday in Dar es Salaam, Yanga coach Miguel Gamondi said his charges are ready to play the second league match.
“We began training sessions for this match yesterday (Sunday) and so far, everything in my team is well and we are going to do our best to win the match like we do in other matches,” he said.
Moreover, the Argentine disclosed that they respect their opponents and are aware that they will come with a wish to defeat them but he insisted that ‘we believe in ourselves.’
Concerning the status of Mahlatse Makudubela (Skudu), Gamondi said he began gym training sessions on Sunday as he slowly recovers from injury and that he is not going to be part of today’s match.
On his part, JKT Assistant Coach George Mketo admitted they are going to be exposed to a tough game based on the results recorded by their opponents recently.
“Of course, it is a very difficult match, but mind you, we also started the league positively and all our players are in good shape to execute their duties, we are hopeful of generating good results,” he said.
Again, Mketo seized the opportunity to elaborate that they are in the league to compete and that their target this season is to finish their mission on top three of the league table.
