TANZANIA, through the Universal Con- cept of Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS) is making sure pupils of primary level education are competent in mastering arithmetic calculation regardless of any kind of complexity.
UCMAS is a unique and scientifically-proven mental development programme designed for children to develop their latent mental power at a very early age when brain development is reaching its peak.
Early this week, UCMAS held its second edition annual competition named ‘The 2nd UCMAS National Competition’.
The UCMAS competition was held at the University of Dar es Salaam, with the aim of bringing together children from different primary schools and showcase results of the UCMAS training.
During the event the Di- rector and Co-owner of Right way Schools, Ms Mercy Mchechu, said the programme has been beneficial and productive to students as it helps them to have a quick understanding and sharp memory not only in mathematics but also in other subjects.
“The UCMAS program is very beneficial for the stu- dents, especially those in pri- mary level, it helps them to be bright and think quickly but also to have good performance in other subjects,” she said. Ms Mchechu said through the UCMAS Programme it has been helping children in build- ing confidence and the learn- ing process has become easier but also being able to practice mathematics effectively.
She said the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guiterres said at last year’s competition that all schools should revise their curricula to match the current standards for the ben- efit of having students who are bright and have good perfor- mance in their subjects.
Ms Mchechu added that the government should work hard to put this Programme in the syllabus of government schools and there should be good cooperation between pri- vate and government schools.
Through the efforts done by the UCMAS in making sure children are competent in mathematics, UCMAS Director, Ms Mili Rughan said the programme helps students to be calm in performing their school activities moreover they become creative in performing other school activities especially in science subjects.
She added that they work closely with government schools but also with the min- istry of education in making sure students are well trained and become capable of calculating mathematics without initially seems impossible becomes a reality with UCMAS. UCMAS stands for Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic System.
It is a unique and scientifically proven method of teaching mental math to children aged 4 to 13 years old. With UCMAS, children learn how to perform complex mathematical calculations quickly and accurately, without the need for a calculator or even pen and paper.
They learn how to use their brains to do math, which is a valuable skill that will benefit them throughout their lives.
UCMAS is not just about learning math, but it also helps you improve memory, concentration, creativity, and problem-solving skills, which are all important skills that help children in their academ- ic and personal lives.
From our humble beginnings in 1993, UCMAS has proven time and again that it is the pioneer in mental development programmes for chil- dren. From our first centre established in Malaysia, we have expanded our ideas of a better tomorrow for young children by stretching our ideas and concepts to every corner of the globe. With over 2 decades of experience and ever-improving knowledge and innovations, UCMAS has established its global franchise brand to 5 continents covering more than 80 countries.
UCMAS has about 5,000 centres worldwide and has helped over one million chil- dren around the world up-to- date.
By incorporating innovative and modern teaching ap- proaches with the application of the Abacus, UCMAS has es- tablished a new level of educa- tion that is beneficial to learn- ers and also fun at the same time, generating more interest in learners. UCMAS is a member of the prestigious UC International Corporation.
Our years of outstanding achievements in the mental development field have brought UCMAS new- found partnerships. UCMAS collaborates with the Chinese Zhusuan Asso- ciation (CZA) from China and also with the Global Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Association (GAMA) to cater newer and much improved scientifi- cally proven methodologies in the mental development field.
Apart from the numerous and prestigious awards re- ceived over the years, UCMAS was also awarded as the first organisation in the mental arithmetic industry to achieve the ISO 9001:2000 certification.
