US Ambassador to Tanzania Dr Michael Battle has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to continue collaborating with Tanzania in improving healthcare services in the country through Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
He made the statement on Thursday during his meeting with the Minister for Health, Ummy Mwalimu at the Minister’s Office in Dodoma where the two leaders discussed various health related issues in the country.
“We are committed to help improve Tanzania healthcare service under the CDC, the center will continue providing training to health service providers and laboratory technicians at community level as the means of containing epidemics,” the envoy promised.
During their discussion, Minister Ummy told Ambassador Battle that Tanzania is facing some pending challenges including medical cost but expressed her optimism that the challenges will be addressed once Universal health coverage (UHC) comes into effect.
Commenting on HIV she said the country has made progress in the fight and is in a good condition regarding the global target of 95-95-95.
