TZ, UAE mark 50 years of diplomatic ties in style

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: TANZANIA and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) marked 50 years of diplomatic relations, featuring, among other activities, the first-ever political and diplomatic consultations.

Tanzania and the UAE currently cooperate in key sectors such as energy, agriculture, livestock, aviation, education, labour, industry, trade, investment and infrastructure.

New areas of cooperation are expected to emerge, including deep-sea fishing, the blue economy, vaccine development for livestock and humans and investment in fertiliser production.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over the weekend to represent the country in the anniversary of the diplomatic relations since its establishment in 1974.

As part of the commemorations, Minister Kombo will lead the Tanzanian delegation in the first political and diplomatic consultations between Tanzania and the UAE.

The first ever significant event will be held in Abu Dhabi tomorrow, 2024. The consultations will focus on reviewing and implementing various areas of cooperation between Tanzania and UAE.

Today, Minister Kombo is expected to deliver a lecture at the UAE’s Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy where he would focus on the 50 years of TanzaniaUAE diplomatic relations and prospects for the future.

The Minister will also participate in a special event celebrating UAE National Day, scheduled for tomorrow to be hosted by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He is also expected to attend a round table discussion organised by the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE) aimed at bringing together business persons from both Tanzania and the UAE to discuss trade and investment opportunities.

In commemoration of 50 years of partnership, Minister Kombo is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with UAE government leaders to further strengthen relations and explore new avenues of collaboration.
