TRC releases new SGR timetable for Dar-Dodoma route
DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA Railways Corporation (TRC) has officially released the new Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) timetable between Dar es Salaam and Dodoma, effective January 3, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the corporation earlier on Saturday, the timetable is as follows.
For Express trains, from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma, the train leaves at 06:00 am, arrives at Morogoro at 7:40 am, and reaches Dodoma at 9:42 am, and from Dodoma, the train leaves at 05:15 am, arrives at Morogoro at 7:12 am, and reaches Dar es Salaam at 8:53 am.
On the Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) trains, popularly known as Mchongoko, from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma the train will leave at 8:00 am, arrive Morogoro at 9:25 to depart at 9:30, and reach Dodoma at 11:15 am.

As for the ordinary trains, from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma, the train will leave at 9:30 am, arrive Morogoro at 11:15 am, and reach Dodoma at 01:25 pm, and from Dodoma to Dar es Salaam, it will leave at 2:15 pm arrive Morogoro at 04:15 pm to depart at 04:20 and reach Dar es Salaam at 06:10 pm.
Also, another train will leave from Dodoma at 05:15 pm arrive in Morogoro at 07:20 pm, and reach Dar es Salaam at 09:10 pm, and from Dar es Salaam, another train will leave at 06:55 pm, arrive in Morogoro at 08:25 am, and reach Dodoma at 11:01.
The statement further said that another Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) train will leave Dodoma at 06:40 pm, arrive Morogoro at 08:25, and reach Dodoma at 09:55 pm.
As for the ordinary train travelling from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro, the train will depart Morogoro at 09:50 am and arrive in Dar es Salaam at 11:40 am, and will leave Dar es Salaam at 04:00 pm to arrivein Morogoro at 11:40 am.

I’m currently in Dar es salaam, I’d like to go back to Uganda by a train.
I’d love to get that experience.
I advice to release a time table which is tabled
in order to avoid confusion to some people

This part of the last paragraph also doesn’t make sense. A train cannot leave Dar at 4PM and arrive in Morogoro at 11:40AM??? That’s more that 18 hours……

I still don’t see any changes. Could you please present it in a summary table showing the time and route, so we can better understand your intention?
We mostly need a root that leaves dar es salaam in the afternoon ( any noon time) like at 12pm , 1pm, or 2pm. Now as it stands, no train to or from dar at these times. Why???
