TIE seeks to improve syllabus for Chinese language

THE Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) plans to improve Chinese language syllabus for secondary schools to further improve competence of the language to students.

TIE’s Head of Legal Department, Leopold Kaswezi, who represented Chief Executive Officer, made statement when addressing at an event to mark the National Children’s Day in Dar es Salaam.

Mr Kaswezi said the competition, organized and hosted by the Confucius Institute at the University of Dodoma and the Chinese Project Team for Basic Education in Tanzania, marks a significant milestone in the efforts to enhance cultural exchange between Tanzania and China.

“The theme of this year’s competition states that “Fly High with Chinese” emphasizes on the spirit of ambition, growth, and determination that lies within each and every one of us. It reflects our shared commitment to embracing the Chinese language and culture, and the opportunities it presents for personal and academic development,” said Mr Kaswezi.

In particular, he expressed gratitude to the organizers for their tireless efforts in making the event possible. The Confucius Institute and the Chinese Project Team for Basic Education in Tanzania have been instrumental in promoting Chinese language learning and cultural understanding among our students.

Kaswezi added that through their dedication, they have nurtured a deep appreciation for the Chinese language and culture in the schools, fostering meaningful connections between the two nations.

To his side, the Director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Tanzania, Wang Siping said through several activities they have done in the country, they have seen the Tanzanian students of secondary schools how lively, interesting and with different abilities, and saw their love for the Chinese language and Chinese culture.

Mima Ally, who was one of the participating students, said she was very happy to be among the participants in the event which has given her opportunity to learn the Chinese language.
