TBA tasked to increase efforts in constructing affordable housing

DAR ES SALAM: THE Minister for Works, Abdallah Ulega, has called on the Tanzania Building Agency (TBA) to step up efforts in constructing affordable housing to enable more citizens to access quality homes.
Speaking during the launch of the sixth Advisory Board of the Tanzania Building Agency (TBA) the minister emphasized the importance of inclusivity in construction projects by ensuring infrastructure is accessible to all segments of society, including people with special needs, while also considering financial accountability, value for money, and efficiency in project implementation.
According to the minister, the National Development Vision 2050 emphasizes improving the construction sector, with the government aiming to build 50,000 quality homes by 2030.
In pursuit of the goal, TBA is expected to oversee the construction of 4,500 homes, continue with government building renovations, and manage public assets.
