Tanzanian miners alerted on safety measures as rains, thunderstorms hit regions

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Mining Commission has asked all miners in the country to fully comply with issues of Safety, Health, and Environmental Protection to avoid possible risks and damage that may be caused by rainfall.
Additionally, the commission also asked miners to exercise extra caution in all mining activities in the country for their safety.
“The Commission values your safety in the growth of the mining sector and in strengthening the national economy through mining activities,” a statement issued by the Ministry of Minerals read.

The statement comes a few hours after the Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) issued a warning of rainfall and thunderstorms expected in various parts of the country from January 1 to 10, 2026.
According to the forecast, some areas are likely to experience light rainfall, while others will receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
TMA emphasized that the forecast is intended to alert the public to take necessary precautions, particularly in areas expected to experience heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
