TanTrade trains local manufactures 

INDUSTRY owners and business community are expecting to benefit from training programmes to help them produce goods that will fetch both local and international markets.

The training has been facilitated by Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade).

TanTrade’s Director of Business Services, Ms Twilumba Mlelwa revealed that during one day training to Coast region industry owners and business personnel held in Kibaha town this week.

She said the TanTrade has focused on the two groups in efforts to make sure that industry and business sectors in the country grow, not only locally but also at the international level.

“We are here today with officials from Small Industries Development Organisation (SIDO), Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Business Registration and Licensing Agency (BRELA) and Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (TCCIA) to build capacity to the participants on making sure that they are getting market for their goods here and compete in international market.

She noted that traders and manufacturers can benefit from the East African Community (EAC) and Southern African Development Community (SADC) markets.

She went on to say that after Coast region, similar trainings will be conducted in other regions in the country with the same purpose.

Coast Regional Commissioner, Mr Abubakar Kunenge, said in a speech presented on his behalf by the Regional Assistant Administrative Secretary (Industries, Trade, and Investment), Ms Rehema Akida that the training is going to bring positive changes to the industrial sector in the region.

“Our region has over 1,400 industries… this is quite a big number. We are expecting that through this training our industry owners and business personnel will gain more knowledge on this subject and be able to increase production and grow their businesses”, he said.

Speaking on behalf of other participants, Mr Tariq Ahmed from Kibaha District expressed his appreciation on how the government is working tirelessly to make sure that industrial sector is growing and contributing to the nation’s economy.
