TanTrade, TPC to launch 49th DITF logistics services

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) and Tanzania Posts Corporation (TPC) today jointly launch a new nationwide transport and cargo handling service aimed at modernizing logistics and boosting efficiency during this year’s 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF).

Speaking to the Daily News on Monday, TanTrade Director General Ms Latifa Khamis said the new service aims to streamline the movement of Sabasaba exhibition goods across the country.

“The goal is to eliminate the excessive and disorganized use of trolleys within the exhibition grounds,” she explained, adding that this year’s event will be more digitally driven and better organized than ever before.

Among the innovations introduced are modern cargo trolleys, similar to those used at international airports.

“These will help exhibitors move their products with ease, reducing congestion and physical strain,” Ms Khamis said.

She also announced a new visitor transport service within the grounds, especially targeting elderly visitors, people with disabilities and those who may tire walking between pavilions.

Since the pavilions are spread across various zones this year, the internal transport system will help visitors navigate the fairgrounds more comfortably and efficiently.

On logistics, Ms Khamis emphasized Tanzania Posts Corporation’s (TPC) key role in transporting cargo within Dar es Salaam and across the country.

“Exhibitors from outside the region will have access to a special cargo transport service by TPC for a small fee. Goods will be collected regionally and safely delivered to the fairgrounds,” she said.

This initiative is expected to reduce delays, enhance safety, and ensure timely return of goods after the exhibition, marking a significant step toward professionalism and smoother logistics for participants.

In addition to logistics, TanTrade will highlight Ngorongoro Day during the fair, dedicated to promoting domestic tourism. Ms Khamis said this reflects a growing focus on raising awareness among Tanzanians about supporting local tourism.

“Promoting local tourism is a shared responsibility—not just of the government or operators, but of all citizens,” she noted.
