Tantrade introduces 1.5m/- VIP ticket for Sabasaba
VISITORS to the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) this year can enjoy a queue-free entrance, get a free parking area and usher service to every pavilion by paying 1.5m/-.
Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade), Director General, Ms Latifa Khamis told the ‘Daily News’ on Wednesday that the services that used to be exclusive to top government officers would be extended to other visitors to make the fair more enjoyable.
She said they introduced a VIP ticket in this year’s fair which allows one to use a vehicle and up to six people on-board for the duration of the fair.
“The VIP ticket holders will be welcomed by a team of ushers who will walk them around the fairgrounds,” Ms Khamis said.
The decision to introduce the VIP ticket was based on feedback from previous fairs that some visitors could not manage to go to some pavilions due to long queues.
“We have prepared a special team for escorting the VIPs who will be accompanied by the young scouts to visit their pavilions of choice,” Ms Khamis said.
The VIP ticket is for the entire season and one may wish to visit the fair daily for 16 days and receive the same treatment.
The normal fair tickets per day is 3000/- for adults while for children is 1000/-.
Additionally to improve the DITF service, TanTrade installed wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) though it will be available at certain areas with a password.
“Visitors will this time around enjoy a free Wi-Fi, however in some areas,” said Ms Khamis.
Meanwhile, Temeke District Commissioner, Ms Mwanahamisi Munkunda asked Tantrade to consider running the Sabasaba fair for 24 hours.
“The round the clock fair will ensure that participants, and especially foreigners, get what they need at the right time,” said DC when opening the preliminary training early this week for the DITF local participants.
The DC said that they have strengthened the safety and security of the fair by 100 per cent therefore exhibitors and visitors should not worry.
Traditionally, the TanTrade is working closely not only with police but also with other security stakeholders like scouts, National Service (JKT).
There will also be horse-mounted patrol to maintain security, she said.
