TANTRADE equips traders with competitive business skills

DODOMA: THE Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE) has urged businesspeople to focus on producing high-quality goods capable of competing effectively in both domestic and international markets.

Dodoma Regional TANTRADE Manager, Mr Sudi Mtengela, made the remarks recently during a business seminar held at the Small Industries Development Organisation (SIDO) offices in Dodoma.

Mr Mtengela said the seminar aimed to build the capacity of entrepreneurs and producers by equipping them with skills to grow their businesses, conduct market research, improve customer service and handle customer complaints efficiently.

He explained that TANTRADE plays a key role in identifying local and international markets and connecting producers with potential buyers.

According to him, the authority organises exhibitions, trade missions, trade conferences and provides advisory and support services to promote Tanzanian products and link local manufacturers with foreign traders.

Mr Mtengela added that TANTRADE is also responsible for conducting trade research with partner countries to understand market trends, product demand, pricing structures, access procedures, regulations and potential buyers. He encouraged entrepreneurs to utilise TANTRADE’s trade information system to access valuable data that can support daily business operations and informed decision-making.

The regional manager further urged businesspeople to use the national brand mark, “Made in Tanzania,” to enhance the visibility and recognition of their products in international markets.

Meanwhile, Scan Code Company Chief Executive Officer, Mr Faustine Mgimba, encouraged traders to adopt the use of barcodes, noting that they add value to products and help improve revenue tracking for both businesses and the government.
