Swissport hails Mlanga as committed firm’s MD

DAR ES SALAAM:  Swissport Tanzania Company has appointed Shamba Mlanga as the firm’s Managing Director.

A statement issued by the Swissports Tanzania Board Chairman,Dirk Goovaerts hailed the firm’s newly appointed Tanzanian Managing Director, Shamba Mlanga as the ideal choice and he is expected to deliver a wealth of expertise and proven record of performance I his over 13 years of experience in the aviation services industry.

Additionally, the Chairman noted that Mr Mlanga has successfully led complex airport operations at Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) and the Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).

“In his most recent capacity as station manager, he was instrumental in executing strategic initiatives that enhanced operational resilience, developed hub capabilities and fortered service innovation,” he stated.

Moreover, Mr Goovaerts stated that Mlanga’s experience, professionalism and consistent results gives them full confidence in his ability to lead Swissport Tanzania into a new era of excellence, supporting both the airline partners and the wider aviation industry.

In 2024, Swissport International AG provided best-in-class airport ground services for some 247 million airline passengers and handled roughly five million tonnes of air freight at 117 air cargo centers worldwide.

By the end of December 2024, Swissport was operating at 276 airports in 45 countries.
