DODOMA: THE government has promised to make an assessment of the best ways to support sunflower oil traders in various areas of the country.

She was responding to a primary question posed by Singida East MP, Abeid Ighondo Ramadhani (CCM). The MP wanted to know whether the government sees the importance of building markets for entrepreneurs, who sell sunflower oil on the sides of the roads.
The deputy minister said that selling edible oil on the sides of the roads leads to reduction in the quality of the product and revenue loss to the government.
In another development, the deputy minister said the election of the Vice-Chairmen of District Councils are made under section 70 (1) of the Local Government Act Chapter 287 and the Standing Orders of Town Councils describing the Election of the Deputy Mayor are made under section 42 (1 ) of the Local Government Act Chapter 288.
She was responding to a question from Mashimba Ndaki, the Maswa Magharibi Member of Parliament (CCM), who wanted to know when the government will change the principles to enable the Vice Chairmen of District Councils to serve for five years instead of annual basis.
“The government recognizes that changes in Laws, Regulations and Procedures are an important part of good governance and sustainable development of the society.
However, if the government receives majority stakeholders’ arguments regarding the need to change these regulations, then it will act,” she said.
