SONGEA: IN a period of about three years of President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan’s regime, the government has disbursed a total of 11.97bn/- for development projects in Mbinga Town Council.
Mbinga Town Director, Ms Amina Seif, said recently that the amount in question was injected into projects falling under the sectors of Education, Health, Community Development, Agriculture, Livestock, Administration and Trade.
Ms Seif was speaking in Songea Municipal Council during the meeting that brought together all Ruvuma’s Councils and Municipal’s directors to air the achievements attained by the sixth phase government under President Dr. Samia who assumed the role in March 2021.
She further said, “We have every reason to thank the Government under the leadership of Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for disbursing the money for us for various development projects.
“She is walking her talk on various development projects, especially on the government’s commitment to bringing services closer to its people.”
Giving the breakdown of the money, Mbinga Town Council under the period of review (in almost three years), she said during the 2021/22 Financial Year, Mbinga Town Council received a total of 5.6bn/-.
Elaborating, Ms Seif noted that in the following years (2022/23 and 2023/24 until December), the Council received 5.4bn/- and 974m/- respectively.
In recognition of the fact that education is key to success, in a period of almost three years, she said, the education sector received a boost of a staggering 7.8bn/- from the government.
The projects implemented during the period under reference included, among others, the construction of 182 classrooms, four new schools namely Lusonga Secondary, Dr. Philip I. Mpango Secondary, Matengo Primary and Mpepai Primary.
