Stars join FIFA action on saturday

DAR ES SALAAM: TAIFA Stars Head Coach Miguel Gamondi has officially kicked off preparations for Tanzania’s upcoming FIFA-calendar fixture, confirming that the national team camp is now in full swing.

The Argentine tactician announced the start of camp on Sunday barely hours after the final whistle of Yanga’s 4–1 triumph over KMC at the KMC Complex in Kinondoni.

Gamondi, seated quietly among the crowd, was not there for the spectacle alone.

His sharp gaze followed every move of several players recently summoned to the national team including Bakari Mwamnyeto, Ibrahim Abdallah, Mohamed Hussein, Mudathir Yahaya and Dickson Job.

The match, which saw Yanga’s dominance propel them back to the summit of the Premier League, quickly became a magnet for reporters eager to draw Gamondi into post-match commentary.

Yet, the former Yanga boss maintained his trademark composure calm, measured and deliberate.

However, he unveiled that his mission was singular to observe the players he has entrusted with national duty as he shapes a squad meant to dance in step with FIFA’s global rhythm.”

Pressed for an opinion on the players’ performances, Gamondi politely sidestepped the chatter.

His purpose, he explained, was not to critique nor to relive his Yanga chapter, but to observe, study, evaluate and build.

“I did not come to analyse the match or comment on Yanga’s play,” Gamondi remarked.

“My focus is solely on assessing the players who have national duties. The goal is to assemble a team capable of matching the rhythm of international football.”

Gamondi’s appointment as Taifa Stars head coach was officially confirmed last Tuesday.

By Thursday, he had already unveiled a 23-man provisional squad, a blend of seasoned campaigners and fresh faces to begin preparations for the upcoming fixture in Egypt this Friday.

The Argentine strategist has wasted no time setting his tone: Discipline, observation and structure.

In his brief tenure so far, he has signaled a clear intent to fuse Tanzania’s familiar local talent with new energy and tactical refinement, a move aimed at reshaping the nation’s football identity.

For Gamondi, this is more than preparation; it is a process of transformation. His calm exterior masks a meticulous mission, to sculpt a Taifa Stars side ready to not only compete but belong on the global stage.
