Space allocation for DITF fair reaches 47 pc

THE allocation spaces for the upcoming 47th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) exhibition have reached 46.9 per cent of all booths by the end of last month, Tanzania Trade Development Authority (Tantrade) has said.

The booths have been allocated to participants from inside and outside the country.

“We have an experience with many participants showing up at the end; so, we are prepared to serve them so that they can complete preparation of their booths before the exhibitions start,” The Trade Promotion Acting Director at Tantrade, Mr Fortunatus Mhambe told the ‘Daily News’ last Friday.

He, however, encouraged participants to make earlier registration to avoid any inconvenience, noting that the earlier the better, adding that the allocation system has been improved to facilitate delivery of services.

“The service is done online; participants register using the internet system to make service delivery easier and make it cooler for many exhibitors not to come to the field instead they send applications from anywhere they are,” said Mr Mhambe.

Moreover, he said eight ministries have confirmed to participate in the DITF exhibitions, including the Ministry of Finance and Planning, Ministry of Agriculture, Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, Ministry of Natural Resource and Tourism, Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development and Ministry of Trade and Industrial Development – Zanzibar.

He said that apart from the ministries, five regions with their municipalities confirmed to participate.

“Up to the end of May this year, there were five regions that confirmed to participate in the exhibitions namely Dodoma, Iringa, Njombe, Dar es Salaam and Tabora including their municipalities,” Mr Mhambe said.

The director said 15 countries have confirmed to participate in the DITF exhibitions. He said the countries are the United Arabs Emirates (UAE), Japan, China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Iran and Türkiye.

Others are Algeria, Rwanda, Syria, South Korea, Ghana, Kenya and Singapore. The countries made the confirmation of a total 114 foreign companies to participate in the DITF.

The 47th DITF is scheduled to commence on the 28th of this month and end on the 13th of next month. The DITF exhibitions are expected to be officially launched on July 3 this year.
