Simba start pre-season with a bang as new signings shine in Egypt

EGYPT: COUNTRY’s football giants Simba SC kicked off their pre-season in commanding fashion, after securing a 2-0 victory over Egypt’s Kahrabaa Ismailia in a spirited friendly that offered fans a tantalising preview of the season ahead.

The spotlight belonged to new signings, Jonathan Sowah and Mohamed Bajaber, both of whom opened their goal-scoring accounts in Simba colours against Kahrabaa Ismailia SC, an Egyptian Premier League side, blending seamlessly with the club’s experienced core in a performance full of promise.

Played under the golden hues of an Egyptian evening, Simba controlled the tempo from the first whistle, dominating possession and carving out chances with flair and precision.

Bajaber opened the scoring in style, latching onto a precise through ball and calmly slotting past the Ismailia goalkeeper, a composed finish that marked a dream debut.

Shortly after the break, Sowah who joined Simba from Singida Black Stars doubled the lead with a clinical strike, reacting fast to a perfectly weighted pass from Jean Charles Ahoua and blasting it home to seal the win.

The chemistry between new recruits and established stars was evident, much to the satisfaction of head coach Fadlu Davids, who praised the team’s performance while keeping his focus on the bigger picture.

“I’m pleased with the display, especially the connection between the new players and the squad, but pre-season is about building the team and we still have tactical tweaks to make and fitness levels to raise,” Davids told reporters’ post-match.

Both debut scorers were understandably thrilled with their early impact. “It feels amazing to score in my first game for Simba and this is just the beginning and the fans should expect more,” said Sowah with a smile.

On his part, Bajaber, the Kenyan professional footballer who joined Simba from Kenya Police FC resounded the sentiment, promising continued contributions for his new club.

“I’m here to give my all. Scoring on my debut means a lot, and I’m looking forward to helping the team when the league kicks off.”

While it was just a friendly, the performance sent a strong message. The combination of fresh energy and tactical sharpness suggests Simba’s revamped attack could be a major talking point in the coming season.
