SIMBA‘S quartet; Clatous Chama, Shomari Kapombe, Mohamed Hussein and Saidi Ntibazonkiza have sparkled in goal assists as the season is just two matches away from a climax.
The four players have been pivotal in enabling their team to source 66 goals from 28 played fixtures, and the figure is likely to increase if extra goals are netted in their upcoming two games.
With 66 goals in the bag, the Msimbazi Street Reds have again shown their goal-scoring efficiency in the league and surpassed the champions Young Africans, who have netted 56 goals from 28-game onslaught.
On the third slot with good number of goals are Azam, who have converted 45 goals, and Geita Gold, with 33 goals, while Singida Big Stars are fifth having netted 32 goals.
According to statistics compiled by the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB), Chama looks to end the campaign as the top assist, as he currently enjoys 14 assists more than any other player in the league.
His teammate Ntibazonkiza scoops the second place with 12 assists to his name, meaning that the duo have done an excellent job in creating goals for their colleagues to put the ball to the back of the net.
With seven assists are Ayoub Lyanga (Azam) and Sixtus Sabilo (Mbeya City), while Nicholas Gyan (Singida Big Stars), Kapombe (Simba), and Hussein (Simba) have each provided six assists.
However, Kapombe and Hussein have seized the leading role of defenders with more assists in the unfolding 2022/23 Premier League campaign, which is good for them.
Also, the TPLB has listed five players with more goal involvement. So far, Ntibazonkiza leads the pile with 22 involvements, followed by Fiston Mayele of Young Africans, who has been involved in 19 goals, Chama 18, Sabilo 16 and Moses Phiri 13.
