FORMER Zanzibar President Dr Ali Mohamed Shein on Sunday consoled the family of second-phase Union President Ali Hassan Mwinyi following the death of his son.
Equally, Union Vice-President Dr Philip Mpango expressed solace to the family of the retired union leader over the loss of his son, Hassan Ali Hassan, last Wednesday.
The late Hassan breathed his last at Mnazi Mmoja Referal in Unguja’s Urban West region where he had been admitted for treatment.
The two leaders gave their consolations at the prayers, which were conducted at the deceased’s Chukwani home on the outskirts of the city. Mzee Mwinyi, Zanzibar President Dr Hussein Mwinyi, former First Lady Siti Mwinyi, the deceased’s widow Fauzia Salim Hilali and other family members were among the prayers’ attendees.
They pleaded for God’s pardon to the deceased over his sins and prayed for the bereaved family to have patience at this trying period.
Meanwhile, Dr Mwinyi attended the ruling CCM party general electoral meeting at the constituency level at Mpendae constituency offices in Urban West region.
In the course, he urged the meeting delegates to wisely use their democratic rights to choose good and visionary leaders, based on their capability and integrity for the development of the constituency, warning against the election of corrupt individuals.
During the meeting, members had the opportunity to vote for various leaders, including the constituency chairperson and secretary as well as the publicity secretary.
Other positions for grab were three slots for members to the regional general meeting; five members to the district central committee and five members to the constituency central committee.
