Seven people perish, 22 injured in Lindi deadly crash
LINDI: AT least seven people died and 22 others sustained injuries when two buses collided at Kiwawa Village in Kilwa District, Lindi.
Speaking exclusively to a Daily News reporter, Lindi Regional Police Commander ACP Pili Mande said drivers of the two vehicles, involved in the crash, died on the spot as four critically injured passengers rushed to Dar es Salaam for further treatments.
According to RPC, Saibaba and Baharia buses crashed on Thursday after a driver of a lorry ferrying coal tried to overtake one of the buses without taking precaution.
ACP Pili mentioned the drivers as Lucas John (59) and Omari Abdallah and added that others who were killed in the deadly accident were yet to be identified.
However, the ACP called upon drivers to be careful as well as taking all necessary precautions during this rainy season.
