PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has received with great sadness news of the death of Igunga District Executive Director (DED) Fatuma Omary Latu and her driver occured on Wednesday at Inyala village in Mbeya Region.
Through her official twitter account President Samia said “I have received with great sorrow, news of the death of Igunga District Executive Director (DED) Fatuma Omary Latu and her driver occurred on September 14 this year in a road accident in Mbeya region. May their souls rest in eternal peace.”
Earlier reports had it that, three people including the Igunga District Executive Director (DED) Fatuma Omary Latu, have died on the spot in an accident that occurred in the Shamwengo area, Inyala in Mbeya Region.
The DED was heading back to her duty station after attending the 36th general meeting of the association of Local Authorities of Tanzania (ALAT), held in Mbeya.
A cargo truck with the registration number T 391 ATF was involved in the accident yesterday evening in which it collided with two other cars, including the one DED was travelling in.
Mbeya Regional Commissioner, Juma Homera confirmed the collision and stated that the truck’s brakes failed, which is what caused it to ram into the two vehicles.
