ZANZIBAR: President Samia Suluhu Hassan has established two commissions to address critical issues concerning the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The first commission, composed of 10 members and chaired by Justice Dr Gerald Ndika, will focus on resolving land disputes in the area, as announced by Chief Secretary Dr Moses Kasiluka.
A statement issued by the Director of the Presidential Commission, Ms Sharifa Nyanga, noted that the President also formed a second commission to evaluate the implementation of the voluntary relocation of residents from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This commission will be chaired by retired Permanent Secretary, Engineer Musa Iyombe.

The formation of these commissions follows President Samia’s meeting with traditional Maasai leaders from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, held on December 1, 2024.
The commissions are tasked with providing in-depth assessments of land-related grievances and reviewing the progress and effectiveness of the voluntary relocation initiative.
