Samia eyes ‘digitalised Tanzania’
TANZANIA’s Government is determined to fully digitalise its businesses as the East African member state seeks to improve services rendered to wananchi.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan made the statement during a launching ceremony of the 2Africa Submarine Cable and Airtel’s 5G High Speed Communication Technology held at Mbezi Beach in Dar es Salaam on Thursday saying that, all government institutions should get rid of traditional methods in all their communications by embracing on modern technology.

The Head of State instructed the Prime Minister Office to collaborate with the Ministry of Information, Communication and Information Technology and the E-governments to come up with a plan which will entail how all ministries and government institutions will be connected.
“If executives need training, let them be trained and allow the government to go digital. Our government has not yet explored the use of the internet as it is supposed to and this will help us in many ways, it will prevent the issue of information getting lost and increase efficiency,” she stated.

She further instructed all service providers to ensure that each Tanzanian should have a number that will enable them to access vital public and private sector services.
According to her, if each Tanzanian is being identified with his/her number, Tanzania will benefit in various areas including “strengthening the country’s security.”
On the other side, President Samia asked citizens to ensure that they give their true information to the National Identification Authority (NIDA) as the latter urged to ensure that each child gets a number with their complete information filed to be taken by other institutions.
Speaking earlier, the docket’s minister, Mr Nape Nnauye promised that he will ensure his ministry that Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) at all marketplaces and other public areas.
