DODOMA regional authorities have called upon those residents who are not yet covered with health insurance to join the community health insurance for them to be assured of treatment when are sick.
The statement was made by the Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS), Dr Fatuma Mganga, during the official visit to Kongwa district, recently.
Dr Mganga expressed that in Dodoma region; only 6 per cent of households have joined the Community Health Insurance Fund (CHF).
Dr Mganga also urged health workers in the district serve people professionally to help the country have a healthy workforce for development.
Meanwhile, he asked the health staff to ensure patients are satisfied with services in a bid to attract more people to join the health insurance.
“Those who have joined the health insurance should be treated like a kings or queens, I urge every health centre to have the special phone number for medical officer in charge so that the public could contact him or her directly in case of emergence,” she advised.
Meanwhile, Dr Mganga noted that a challenge of students and pupils dropping out of school in Dodoma was still rampant.
Kongwa district council is leading with 4419 children dropped out of school while reached standard four.
In secondary schools, 26 per cent of the students are absentees, and 492 Form Four students, equivalent to 11.3 per cent, did not sit for mock examinations meant for preparing them for the upcoming national exams.
Mr Mganga called on the councils in the region to embark of special campaigns to return back to school those missing students.
Dodoma Regional Commissioner Rosemary Senyamule said she has started visiting every area of the region to establish a real situation of the region.
“I have started a tour to visit the people of the region with three objectives. One is to introduce myself, two is to listen to complaints and three is to issue government’s directives,” RC Senyamule stated.
