Regulator allows upcountry busses to operate at night

The Land Transport Regulatory Authority (LATRA) has allowed upcountry buses to operate from 3am.

LATRA’s Acting Head of the Public Relations and Communications, Salum Pazzy said that operators are ready to travel at night to request for the licenses.

He said that drivers should registered as well.

Mr Pazzy said that LATRA is working closely with stakeholders including Tanzania Bus Owners Association (TABOA) on the matter.

So far, he added, there is no confusion on the starting time for the upcountry buses.

“We are working closely on changing bus schedules, previously all the buses had to start the trip at 6am in the morning and not later than that, and later we allowed the timetable to start at 5am in the morning,” he said.
