Raila’s body arrives at Mambo Leo Stadium, Kisumu

KISUMU: THE body of former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, has arrived at the Mamboleo Stadium, Kisumu, where thousands of people have gathered to pay their last respects to the legendary leader.
The process began today, October 18, 2025, immediately after a military plane carrying his body landed at the Kisumu International Airport. From there, his body was flown by helicopter to Mamboleo for public viewing.
Thousands of mourners from the Nyanza region turned up early in mourning attire to show their love for Raila Odinga. The stadium was filled with emotion as people sang songs of mourning and remembrance.
After today’s ceremony, Raila’s body will be transported by road to his home in Bondo, Siaya County, for burial on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
Preparations for the funeral were made on Friday, in collaboration with the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), government officials, local leaders, and the public. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, who is the chairman of the funeral preparations committee, urged the public to be seated by 1 am to ensure that the funeral proceeds with dignity and peace.
