Puma Energy assures public of huge fuel stock

THE Puma Energy Tanzania has assured local consumers of supplying enough fuel in efforts to contain any shortage of the petroleum products in the country.

“We have been selling our fuel to both small and big customers. Let me alley fear among big and small fuel dealers that there is enough stock, and we closely work with the government in ensuring that there is no shortage,” Puma Energy Tanzania Managing Director Fatma Abdallah stated over the weekend.

Ms Abdallah revealed that before the end of this month the company expects to receive a consignment of 16 million litres of fuel.

She noted that by end of this month the company would have supplied over 50 million litres to consumers.

She was speaking over the weekend when Energy Minister January Makamba visited some oil depots in Dar es Salaam during which he also spoke with fuel importers.

His visit was aimed at hearing from the players in the industry whether there was shortage of fuel in their depots, something which could create shortage in the local market.

Ms Abdallah said unlike last year when they supplied only 30 million litres during the month of July, in the same period this year it is expected that 50 million litres would have been pumped into the market.

Apart from that, she asked the government to ensure that dollar is readily available for them to have currency for purchasing more fuel in the global market.

“We request the government to facilitate us to get enough dollars for us to order more fuel, hence driving Tanzania to attain its targets in energy sector,” she said.

Responding, Energy Minister assured stakeholders that the government was aware of the challenge and was closely working on it.
