President Samia orders intensify security in Isles

President Samia orders intensify security in Isles.

The Commander-In-Chief of Armed Forces, President Samia Suluhu Hassan has ordered the Police Force to pay special attention in Zanzibar by conducting special operations to curb crimes in the Isles and the nation as whole.

The Head of State issued the directive in Moshi, Kilimanjaro Region when officiating the Police Force working session meeting on Tuesday, saying the Zanzibar Archipelago in the Indian Ocean can be easily accessed.

Since the Police Force serves both Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar, the Head of State said, IGP should give Isles equal treatment like how it does in Dar es Salaam.

“The police don’t have enough budget; they don’t have enough fuel for roving…There are cases where large weapons are caught on the islands…is easy for illicit drugs to be brought in through Zanzibar, human trafficking activities and many other crimes. Zanzibar is vulnerable and needs special attention,” she added.
