President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed nine officials to chair bodies of various public institutions under the Ministry of Agriculture and an Executive Director of the State owned Mining Company (STAMICO).
A statement released by the Director of Presidential Communications, Ms Zuhura Yunus early Thursday stated that the Head of State appointed Mr Filbert Mponzi to chair the Sugar Board of Tanzania (SBT) and Dr Tausi Kida as the chairperson of Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI).
Mr Mponzi is the Chief Officer of personal and business customers at NMB bank in Dar es Salaam and Dr Tausi works with the Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) as an executive director officer.
President Samia picked a former Member of Parliament for Lupa Constituency, Mr Victor Mwambalaswa to chair the Tanzania Tobacco Board (TTB), Mr Omar Jumanne Bakari as the chairman of the Agricultural Inputs Trust Fund (AGITIF) and Mr Salum Awadh Hagan as the chairman of Cereals and Other Produce Board of Tanzania (CPB).
Mr Bakari is a director and co-founder of a non-governmental organization known as Tanzania Data Lab (dLab) and Mr Hagan is the chief executive officer of SSC Capital located in Dar es Salaam.
Other appointees are Professor Andrew Temu who was named as chairman for the Tanzania Plant Health and Pesticide Authority (TPHPA) and Mr Abdulmajid Nsekela as the Tanzania Cooperative Development Commission (TCDC) chairman.
Mr Christopher Gachuna has been named as the Tanzania Cotton Board (TCB) chairman.
On the other side, the Director of Presidential Communications added that the President also confirmed Dr Venance Mwase as the executive of the State Mining Corporation (STAMICO).
According to the statement, the appointment of the appointees is effective from the 23rd of August, this year.
