MOSHI: As Tanzanians prepare to join people worldwide in celebrating New Year’s Eve 2025, the Kilimanjaro Police Force has issued several warnings, including a prohibition on burning tires, blocking roads, and damaging infrastructure.
The police have also cautioned against drunk and reckless driving, emphasizing that such behavior will not be tolerated.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Kilimanjaro Regional Police Commander, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Simon Maigwa, the Force announced that security has been reinforced ahead of the New Year celebrations to ensure peace and harmony across the region.
This includes the deployment of additional police officers and patrols.
The initiative encompasses foot patrols, motorcycle teams, and vehicle units to cover major roads and public spaces across all districts in the region.
Bar and entertainment venue owners have been reminded to comply with licensing terms, including adhering to closing hours and preventing overcrowding.
The use of fireworks is also strictly regulated, with only individuals holding valid permits allowed to set them off. Even then, fireworks are restricted to non-residential areas to ensure public safety.

Residents have been urged to secure their homes before heading out for celebrations and to avoid allowing children to attend late-night events for their safety.
“These measures aim to ensure a peaceful and orderly celebration as we welcome the New Year,” the statement read.
The police further stated: “We call on all residents to comply with the law. Anyone found violating these directives will face strict legal consequences.”
The Kilimanjaro Police assured the public of their commitment to maintaining safety and peace throughout the celebrations and extended their wishes for a happy and safe New Year.
