PM orders a timely completion of the Kidunda Dam

MOROGORO: PRIME Minister  Mwigulu Nchemba has today, January 2, 2026, inspected the progress of the construction of the Kidunda Water Dam located in Morogoro Region, as part of the government’s efforts to monitor the implementation of major strategic projects.

Speaking shortly after the inspection, Dr Nchemba said the Kidunda Dam project reflects the vision of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, to ensure the country attains a long-term solution to water shortages.

He explained that the implementation of the project is particularly important at this time when the country is facing the impacts of climate change, which have led to challenges in water availability for citizens.

In another development, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Water to ensure that the project does not stall and is completed on schedule so that it can begin providing water services to citizens as intended.
