PM officially launches SADC Police Games

THE Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa today officially launches the Southern African Region Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation games at Uhuru stadium.

The 11th edition of SARPCCO games began in Dar es Salaam on September 4th this year and are scheduled to climax on September 17th at the same venue.

In the competition that will take place later, all sport stakeholders are being invited to witness the launch and various games that will  continue from morning to the evening at he same venue.

On the release revealed by the Tanzania Police Force shows that Inspector General of Police Camillus Wambura said  the launch was previously to be held yesterday.

 “The opening of SARPCCO games will be held today and not yesterday as the release shows, therefore all sports stakeholders invited to witness the launch, ,’’ the IGP statement said.

The SARPCCO games are being held at Benjamin Mkapa, Uhuru, Gwambina Temeke stadiums and Magufuli Hostel stadiums.

 This year’s games involve more than 1500 sportsmen from the police forces of South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Comoros, DRC Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and the host Tanzania.

The SARPCCO games include football, netball, volleyball, darts, tennis, and athletics as well as chess for both men and women teams.
