Oryx promotes use of clean energy among food vendors

THE Oryx Gas Tanzania Limited (OGTL) has taken its clean energy campaign to Ilemela district of Mwanza region, by donating over 500 units of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to women food vendors.

According to Company’s Managing Director, Araman Benoite, the move to is a continuation of encouraging the use of clean and safe energy for cooking in the country.The Oryx Gas Tanzania has been at the front line to achieve this goal.

The handing over of the LPG starting kits in Ilemela district was conducted in cooperation with Dr Angelina Mabula, the Minister for Lands and Human Settlements Development, who doubles as MP for Ilemela constituency.

“The company’s goals are very clear to see a big change in the use of clean and safe energy for cooking for all Tanzanian communities,” Mr Benoite stated.

On her part, Dr Mabulla said the gas cylinders were donated to all 19 wards in the district where women food vendors were given according to their activities.

“We have been witnessing how these women struggling when conducting their activities in a good environment and in a speedy manner,” she said.

She added that President Samia Suluhu Hassan intends to improve the economy and investments, as well as ensuring that all services are improved.

“Many women have been struggling to seek for firewood for cooking, they cut trees. So, when we get companies like this which is ready to invest in health and environment, we should thank them,” she stated.

She was optimistic that the beneficiaries would develop a culture of using the LPG for cooking after experiencing the goodness of using the clean energy.

“In this I commend the Oryx Gas Tanzania and the President Samia Suluhu Hassan who aims that by 2032 the use of firewood and charcoal will be a history,” she said.

She said the promotion of clean energy has been well stipulated in the CCM 2020-2025Election Manifesto.
