According to a statement issued by University of the Fraser Valley (UVF), the event is organized by Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) and UVF in partnership with Ardhi University (ARU), in coordination with UN Girls ICT portal, Making Africa Work, Women’s Fund Tanzania and River Cross Tracking Limited.
The event will feature presentations from two ARU PhD students to be followed by a training session on GPS/GIS for young women by interns from Canada. ICT day for young women is marked annually following the establishment of United Nations Girls ICT portal.
The event will focus on encouraging young women to possess a prominent role in ICT as the engine for economic development and improving family lives. The event also targets on training women about what ICT has to offer in the field of urban planning.
