The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AOTTL, Mr Mark Bowman, said on Wednesday that they have approved the donations for the 2012/2013 through the firm's community development projects committee (CDPC).
"Through the CDPC we have already approved donations amounting to 18.8m/- to some of the projects," he said.He said the projects being supported focus on education, health and environmental conservation.
He said the approved donations are for building materials, plastering and roofing a dispensary under construction to the value of 4,950,000/- to Mitundu Village in Manyoni District, Singida Region.
Other 4,680,000/- would be spent on building classrooms at Igombe Primary School in Tabora municipality and 2.49m/- for buying roofing materials for two classrooms at Limbula Primary School in Urambo District, Tabora Region.
He said 2,280,000/- would be spent on construction of a classroom at Nelson Mandela Secondary School in Morogoro and 44 desks worth 2,188,000/- for Pemba Primary and 44 desks valued at 2,188,000/- for Karotambe Secondary School in Tarime, Mara Region.
He said the company appreciates the support the government has been giving the tobacco industry.
