In one incident, a man identified as Bakari Ally, 20, was found hacked to death at Lizaboni area in Songea municipality on Sunday.
Ruvuma Regional Police Commander (RPC), Michael Kamuhanda, said yesterday that the dismembered body of the deceased was discovered at midnight.
According to the RPC, the deceased was working at a milling machine and it is alleged that he had informed his family that he was going to meet his girlfriend. "The deceased body was found butchered at Lizaboni area but police are still investigating the matter," he said.
Mr Kamuhanda noted that this was a fourth such incident after three other similar incidents had occurred in the region in a period of three months. He said the deceased body was preserved at the regional hospital for further investigation and burial arrangements.
In another incident, a man identified as John Michael, 17, died after falling in a well at Viwege area in Ilala municipality in Dar es Salaam on Sunday. Ilala RPC, Mr Faustine Shilogile, said that the incident occurred in the afternoon when the man slipped while trying to fetch water from the well.
He said neighbours rushed him to Kisarawe district hospital where he died when receiving treatment and the body was preserved at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH). Mr Shilogile also said that another man whose identity could not be established immediately died after being involved in a hit and run accident along Nyerere road at Vingunguti area in Ilala municipality.
He said that the incident occurred at around 9 pm involving a car which was moving from Tazara area to the Airport. The driver of the vehicle sped off following the accident and the police are searching for him and the vehicle. He said the deceased was aged between 30 and 35 years old and wore a pair of brown trousers and white t-shirt and his body was preserved at Amana hospital.
