Korean NGO supports society

Kia Motors Chairman, Mr Cho Kwi Hyun, said in Dar es Salaam over the weekend that his company plans to build a well equipped Green Light Day Care Centre at Wazo ward in the city.

"Kia Motors have a noble dream to accomplish different projects aimed at supporting the less privileged starting from the very foundation of a day care centre which will bring hope in place of despair and knowledge in place of illiteracy and ignorance," he said.

Mr Hyun was speaking after donating four Kia pick-up trucks to Maendeleo Secondary School whose construction was also supported by Kia Motors. The pick-up trucks would be used as school buses and shuttle services for promoting health in Wazo ward.

He said the CSR project was carried out jointly by the Korean NGO, Good Neighbours whose volunteers took part in the projects, adding that the projects are supported by its Global Distributers Network in one way or another. "The activities of the Korean NGO, Good Neighbours are well known. They are working shoulder to shoulder with Kia Motors in various activities," he said.

He pointed out that Kia was also implementing the Green Light of Education project as part of the SCR project which is aimed at promoting education. "The programme seeks volunteers from Korean universities to travel around the world to serve in areas related to environment, social welfare, health and culture," he said.

Kia Motors is part of the Kia Hyundai Group manufacturing around 4 million units of motor vehicles per year and ranks among the top five Automobile Manufacturers in the world.
