A statement issued by the company in Dar es Salaam said on Sunday that prior to his new post, Mr Gutierrez with 12 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, had in the past two and a half years, been working as the Consumer/ Deputy General Manager.
He has worked in several markets in Africa and Latin America. He joined Millicom International Cellular S.A (MIC) five years ago as Chief Operating Officer (COO) in Ghana and later moved to Tanzania. Mr Gutierrez replaces Mr Marcelo Aleman who has been appointed as General Manager of MIC’s operationS in El Salvador.
He said he was looking forward to taking up his new role and is excited about the opportunities ahead for Tigo. “I am very pleased to have been promoted to General Manager of Tigo Tanzania,” he said.
“I am proud to be heading a healthy business with a strong brand and enormous potential for growth as we offer new services to the market such as Tigo Pesa and Tigo Internet, which are proving to be very popular with our customers”, he said.
