One of the event's organizers, Mr Peter Oguwi, stated here that the region's maiden education expo will be held at the Nane-Nane grounds in Njiro between July 8 and 14, this year.Mr Oguwi observed that in addition to proposals from colleges and universities based in India and other Asian countries, 60 other institutions from Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi have confirmed their participation in the event.
Tanzania hosts the event compliments to Arusha being the headquarters of the East African Community (EAC) and the event aims at forging mutual cooperation among universities operating in the five EAC member states.According to Mr oguwi, the objective of the fair is to bring together youths aiming to join higher learning institutions and current university students, parents, guardians and representatives of the institutions in the region.
The maiden expo, which also will draw a number of other international universities and colleges, will be held under the theme of "Promotion of education partnership and skills in East African countries.'
Mr Oguwi said that this year's event will showcase progress in the education sector in terms of educational equipment, technology, resources and teaching and learning materials and the event will also be colored by lots of activities and entertainment."The idea is to bring on board what EA higher learning institutions can offer for East Africans as part of the integration process," he explained, adding that the expo will enable ordinary citizens to know where they can send their children to acquire particular skills.
The fair will also link East African institutions and open accesses to parents and students to exchange ideas and experience for the advancement of education and human capital."We want to create awareness through the education fair and conferences in East and Central Africa, to the mutual benefit of our customers and shareholders," Mr Oguwi explained.
The expo also will be a platform for universities and colleges across the EA region to meet and forge cooperation in research, exchange programmes and many more.
