The Principal of ATC Engineer Richard Masika revealed that the special training programmes would be introduced courtesy of a support from the Association of Canadian Community Colleges, under the local Education for Employment system.
“Canada will be sending expert trainers to the ATC to establish this new programme,” said Dr Masika adding that other than Canada, Japan, Netherlands and Italian governments had also been active in providing educational assistance to the Arusha Technical College.
He revealed that Italy had earlier on donated 200,000 Euros, through the Tanzania Technical Education and Labour Market Support, to help the ATC purchase the required Laboratory Equipment for the Electronic Engineering and Aviation Communication technology.
On the other hand the Tanzania Education Authority has channeled into ATC 150 million/- to enable the technical college purchase more training paraphernalia in the newly introduced training program on Construction and Irrigation Engineering.The Tanga-based, Tanga Cement Company Limited has pledged to assist the college in practical training as well as sponsoring research programmes involving proper applications and usage of cement products.
So far, Tanga Cement through an official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is contributing two tons of cement every three months, to the Arusha technical College to assist the ATC with its related programme material for practical training.Other local partners currently assisting the Arusha technical College include the Kilimanjaro Agricultural Training Centre (KATC) and the Kilimanjaro Irrigation Zonal Unit (KIZU).
