Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Information Officer, Boniface Wambura said on Thursday that the team which was relegated from the top flight football to First Division league during the 2009/10 season earned another demotion to the lower ranks, for failure to honour their game against 94KJ at Mlandizi on Wednesday.
He said AFC will now join Singida’s Manyoni FC who were also demoted to lower division league for failure to show up during its group C assignment against Police Tabora at the Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium.
Wambura said AFC will have to feature in the National League and fight for promotion next season. He said the First Division League (FDL) rules and regulations clearly stipulate that any team that fails to show up in a game will be relegated and all its previous results being nullified.
“The team did not show up during the match and neither TFF nor coordinator of Mlandizi Centre got any information on their failure to play the game,” said Wambura. Moreover, apart from being relegated, Wambura said AFC has been fined 1m/-, which is supposed to be paid before the next season’s league kick off. He said 500,000/- will be given to 94KJ as match preparation expenses.
In the league, AFC was drawn in group C, which has now remained with four competitors following Manyoni FC recent demotion. Those remaining are 94 KJ, Police Morogoro, Rhino FC and Police Tabora.
