How Kagera councils surpass revenue collection targets

LOCAL councils in Kagera region have attributed success in surpassing revenue collection targets to joint efforts among stakeholders.

The eight councils in Kagera region managed to collect a total of 29.5bn/- from July 2021 to June 30th, this year, implying 109 per cent performance, it has been disclosed.

Assistant Regional  Administrative Secretary (Planning and Coordination), Mr Onesphory Bwana said that during 2021/2022 financial year that ended on June 30th this year the target was to collect a total of 26.97bn/-.

"During 2021/2022 financial year that ended on June 30th, this year the target was to collect a total of 26,97bn/- but the eight councils in Kagera region managed to collect a total of 29.5bn/-. The good performance was due to joint efforts by stakeholders," he said.

Ngara DC topped the list after collecting a total of4.1bn/- while the target was set at 3bn/-, equivalent to 138 per cent performance. Missenyi DC managed to collect 4.9bn/- while the target was set at 4bn/-, equivalent to 121 per cent performance.

Biharamulo DC collected a total of 2.8bn/- compared to the set target of 2bn/-, equivalent to 107 per cent performance. Bukoba Municipal Council recorded 104 per cent performance by collecting 3.3bn/- while the target was 3.2bn/-.

Muleba DC   collect a total of 5.85bn/-surpassing the target set at 5.76bn/, equivalent of 102 per cent performance. Karagwe DC, on the other hand, collected a total of 3.4bn/- compared to the target set at 3.3bn/-. This was equivalent to 102 per cent performance, he said.

Mr Bwana further expounded that Kyerwa DC managed to collect a total of 3.1bn/-, equivalent of 102 per cent of the 3.05bn/- target. Bukoba DC recorded 99 per cent performance, collecting a total of 2.8bn/- while the target was 2.66bn/-, he said.
