Former Bulyanhulu workers told to lodge their complaints

FORMER Bulyanhulu Mine Workers have been asked to lodge officially their complaints to the government about non-medical treatment and noncompensation.

“Those complaints should be filed as soon as possible before June 8, 2022 indicating the name, employment number, residence and telephone number,” a statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister, Labour, Youths, Employment and the Disabled stated.

It stated further that on several occasions the Ministry has been receiving complaints from employees with such challenges against their employer.

The statement said the government through the Ministry responsible for Labour and Employment Affairs has been addressing these complaints through the Occupational Health and Safety Agency (OSHA), and the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration Tribunal (CMA) and the Department of Labour.

For last year, the responsible Ministry received, analysed and resolved 150 complaints of former Bulyanhulu employees. However, former employees of the company have continued to lodge complaints to various government authorities.

“The office has received a number of complaints that will be analysed,” said the statement adding, I would like to inform all those whose grievances have not been submitted and have decision taken by the Office of the Prime Minister - Labour, Youths, Employment and the Disabled to submit their grievances so that they can be worked upon collectively,” read the statement.
